Aboriginal History Group
The group is part of the Progress Association and was founded by a dedicated band of Pearl Beach residents in 2015 to better understand the local Aboriginal history and share this knowledge with the wider Community.
A designated group member works closely with The Guringai Tribal Link Corporation to ensure the authenticity of our information.
After extensive research conducted during their first year, Pearl Beach Aboriginal History Group (PBAHG) published a 40 page book about the Aboriginal history of their local area. This book has recently been revised and a second edition of ‘Bungaree’s Mob -The Wannangine of the Woy Woy Peninsular & Beyond’ was launched in November 2018 during the Bungaree Commemorative Weekend at Pearl Beach. This edition will be on sale at The Pearl Beach Store and local bookshops and available in all local libraries. If you would like to order a copy please email us.
Our events have also included two Film Festivals, several Bushwalks to local caves and rock art sites, an Aboriginal Astronomy Night and a Q&A afternoon tea with local historian Bob Pankhurst.
All are welcome at all of our Events.
