Events Committee

Membership –  made up as follows – Chair & Publicity, Minute Secretary & Finance, Facebook – plus six general members.   However, many of the local community also volunteer to assist with various events and activities.

Purpose – To have a community we need to have a community of interests and a sense of identification with our fellow community members. This encompasses:

  • Recognition and support of the social network & common interest groups.
  • Events also represent a primary source of revenue.

There always needs to be a balance between the need to raise funds and the paramount objective to foster the community.

Scope – A Calendar of Events will be planned each year with a mix of:

Community Building Events – Australia Day / ANZAC day / memorial services or farewells

Fund Raising Events – that are more dependent on the economics of running them and need to be managed as a business proposition. Actual co-ordination of an event may not always be with Event Sub-committee.

Income generated events include – Food & Wine; Easter Book Fair; Showcase & Scholarship Concerts; Pearl Beach Glee Club Concerts; Jazz in Arboretum; June Long Weekend Concert; Art & Craft Fair.

Social Events – are organised purely to have fun and encourage community involvement and social interaction. These events will vary each year and may/ may not incorporate raising funds for other charitable organisation.

Common Interest Groups – the Events Sub-committee is not responsible for the co-ordination of their activities. However, the Association will offer general support to their activities.
